Question: Thank about a ballad, or a song you think qualifies as a ballad, and describe its qualities. (Theme, meter rhyme, subject matter)
A ballad, by definition, is a kind of form of verse like poetry set to music. It was first seen and used during the medieval period widely across Europe. Many ballads attribute to the theme of love. In "Love Ballad" by George Benson, the theme is obviously love. Whereas other ballads have a sad or melancholy tone, this ballad seems cheerful. It depicts a happy relationship "Lovers come and lovers go, that's what people say...Don't they know, how I feel when you love me, and what we have is much more than they can see". This ballad mainly talks about that the feeling a guy has towards his girlfriend perhaps, and he's deeply "soaked in love." He's probably blinded by love and he's passionate.
Furthermore, although there is no rhyme in this ballad, for it is a modern song, it does have repetition, or the chorus. It repeats the part "what we havve is much more than they can see", which further emphasizes the guy's strong inclination and love for the girl. However, I think other ballads are more on the sad side.
